thanks to tien for pointing me to this altogether funny, yet slightly sad and pathetic ebay item. a person has begrudgingly (assumption) put up his college diploma for sale on ebay in order to pay off the mounting loan payments that hes fallen behind on. the diploma in question? a bachelors of architecture diploma from rensselaer. gosh if this isnt a shot in an already wounded arm. granted not all aspiring architects are as dire as his situation. he was just unlucky enough to have excessive school loans alongside a shite-paying job. that being said however, i wouldnt exactly be promoting the jetsetting profession of the suave architect anytime soon. because what his guidance counselor…and mine too, failed to mention was just how unappreciated and over-worked architects are in america. those that are lucky enough are paid overtime for all their excessive work. the rest just work excessively anyway.
me personally, i never really fully invested myself in the architecture profession. thats probably why during the 5 years i spent whittling away little basswood models, i was teaching myself photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver, and any other programs i could use in other design fields. this dude tho…shit do i feel sorry for him. anything but architecture. speaking of which tho, i wonder where my diploma is…
