an article on cnn.com talks about a new book and pbs special coming out soon that takes a look at the first ever american “road trip.” how rockin’ is that? back in “da days”…a road trip was a real trip…when there were no highways, gas stations, or slurpees. egad…the thought. so this dude in 1903, horatio jackson, took a $50 bet that he could travel from san francisco to new york in less than 3 months. he sported a smokin’ 20 hp winton touring car (aka: the road warrior), his trusty sidekick/mechanic sewall crocker, and their dog mascot bud that they picked up in idaho. even tho it goes into detail some of the shit they went thru (namely, every single part of the car breaking down at least once), it sounds pretty coo…the idea of tearing thru the raw american interior. dig the dog with the goggles…
