spamalot, sue storm, and evil

im feeling kind of air-headed right now. i just thought id share that, in case my post sounds like a 4-year old wrote it. cnn (of all places) announced the primary cast for the upcoming musical spamalot today. spamalot, for those that were um…curious, is a new broadway-bound musical thats being directed by mike nichols and based on the 1975 movie monty python and the holy grail. yea, not a typo or anything. the main trio will feature david hyde pierce as sir robin (originally eric idle), tim curry as king arthur (graham chapman), and hank azaria as sir lancelot (john cleese). the musical is set to debut in chicago december 21st, and on broadway february 7th. and there was much rejoicing.

FANTASTIC 4
there are new reports going around that most of the roles for the upcoming fantastic four movie have been filled. ioan gruffudd (king arthur) has reportedly just signed on to be mr. fantastic, along with michael chiklis as the thing and chris evans as the human torch. and while sue storm/the invisible girl has yet to be cast, shh reports that jessica alba is the top contender, while ign reports that elisha cuthbert is. my moneys on elisha, because jessica alba doesnt even look right for the part.

RESIDENT EVIL
whats the last item for today? oh right, resident evil: apocalypse trailer…for those that were curious. im personally not sure whether ill even see it or not. i only post it because milla jovovich is in it. the first one was loud and obnoxious, and i cant imagine the sequel to be much different. oh, and nemesis looks like the toxic avenger. thats super.

sky captain one sheet

[ current selection | some song – ive heard hundreds of times ]
[ feelin’ | well ]

its already wednesday…how convenient. m3ntal note to self…stop fucking spending money. not that i didnt calculate how much my bike expenses would cost me, but it still looks rather painful when the numbers are put down on paper. blah. anyhoo, theres really only one thing i want to point out for today…the new sky captain one sheet. it doesnt feature any of the major protaganists…no jude law, gwyneth paltrow, or angelina jolie. just a big evil metal robot ready to piss all over the city. rockin’! so check out the goodness.

and if you really want bits of other movie news…well fine, heres a quick rundown. king arthur reviews all over the place (ign, cinescape, ny times)…its just ok. ign also has an interview with keira knightley…and she talks and stuff. right then, thats it.

batman and elektra

[ current selection | blood of abraham – this great land devours ]
[ feelin’ | woo! ]

its friday. and tomorrows saturday. and ill have a big frickin’ smile on my face. yay for long weekends! and i get to pick up my upgraded bike today too after work. my wittle baby kaiju

lets see, i really should post more than just movie news. people might get the wrong impression that thats all my interests encompass. i havent posted a good science/astrophysics post in a while. hmm…well ill keep my eyes open. for the time being, two new movie pic updates. the first is for upcoming batman begins. the official website has quietly posted (hidden) links to a few new images of the supporting cast, including gordon (gary oldman), ducard (liam neeson), alfred (michael caine), and lucius fox (morgan freeman). if you dont feel like blindly feeling around the website looking for the links, check the ign article for the images.

and this second ones actually for marisol…b/c im not much of an elektra or jennifer garner fan. a new image from the upcoming daredevil spin-off movie elektra was featured in usa today yesterday. they had originally stated that elektras costume would be closer to the original comic book version than the costume in daredevil, but i think all they really did was make her costume red again. well whoopidee-doo. im personally all for the original costume. even tho im not much of a garner fan, i think id pay to see her hopping around rooftops in a swimsuit-like costume…kicking peoples asses, picking at her wedgie, and camel-toeing all over the place.

sin city

[ current selection | the wiseguys – start the commotion ]
[ feelin’ | i forgot my breakfast ]

i have no idea what happened this morning. one second my alarm clocks going off and im resetting it for another 15 minutes (per usual), and the next second its nearly 8am and im rushing to get prepped and out the door. that damn squishy heaven-like bed…i need to toss some thumb-tacks in there or something. my new wheelsets currently sitting next to me too. i brought them to work because im going straight to the shop after work. theyre quite pretty. seeing them and then comparing them to the mental picture of my current wheelset, im thinking that i probably shouldve trued my old set at least once since i got them. gosh, so this is what a wheels supposed to look like.

anyhoo, the only real noteworthy movie news for todays the aforementioned sin city news (refer to shoutbox). so technically tg, the news was posted in the evening, and as such is almost guaranteed to be tossed in the next days entries. im also not really a fan of frank miller, and didnt really follow the sin city news…tho this particular news is quite interesting. the live action of frank millers sin city, starring bruce willis, benicio del toro, jessica alba, etc…was co-directed by robert rodriguez (with frank miller). and rodriguez reportedly had tarentino direct a segment of the movie for the tune of….$1. technically hes not really getting paid anything because tarentino actually paid rodriquez $1 to score his kill bill v2, so hes just getting his dollar back. ah…director buddies. it must rock to be an influential director with other influential directors for friends.

mr. wizards world

who remembers mr. wizards world from the 80s? i just got a massive 80s flashback as i read a recent interview the ny times conducted with don herbert…better known to countless aspiring scientists and pre-adolescent macguyvers as mr. wizard. i wish i could recollect specific details better other than the fact that he did funky experiments with kids in his kitchen (hmm, that doesnt sound good). and apparently mr. wizards world was merely a latter-day incarnation of his earlier 50s show watch mr. wizard. things you learn. anyhoo, reminisce…then recollect one of the better mr. wizard homages. an episode of that old abc show dinosaurs, where mr. wizard blows away his kid assistant. “looks like we’re gonna need another timmy…

dbz and crapwoman

[ current selection | the avalanches – breezeblock ]
[ feelin’ | swell ]

ok, here we go yo. breezeblock audio…check. roast beef sandwich in stomach…check. friday…wooha! admittedly this shouldve been popped into the journal entry for today, but i wasnt exactly in the right mindset then. two noteworthy movie articles for today. the first requires a bit of a news recap that i never bothered to highlight. that live-action dragonball z movie that they were developing? yea, it died a quiet death. or it had anyway. news surfaced today that screenwriter ben ramsey has just signed on to adapt the live-action dragonball z for 20th century fox. i suppose thats good news…i think. im still curious how theyll adapt the big spikey super-saiyan hair. or explain why theres a girl running around named “bra” and a wrestler named “mr. satan”.

CAT SHIT
the second movie news is really more for a good laugh than anything actually newsworthy. the first review for the poop-in-a-bag movie catwoman rolled into aicn today. and everybody let out a collective gasp when the review turned out to be negative. holy shit, no way. the reviewer patiently sits thru 2 hours of farting in his face, then relays to the rest of the world the garbage that will be catwoman. i wonder how it will stack against art-house classics like battlefield earth and gigli in the years to come.

sky captain and appleseed

oh right, i was going to post more things. ill admit to being a wee slack this week. todays a mild hump day (wont go into why) so thats my explanation. moriarty over on aicn posted his early review of sky captain today…and hes lovin’ it. the look and feel of the movie is definitely a must-see, with its depiction of a gernsback-ian past/future where zeppelins roamed the skies and everything had chrome and fins. moriarty also quipped about one particularly interesting thing about the movie…it stars lord lawrence olivier! yea hes dead, but that doesnt mean he cant be popping his head up in movies here and there. woo to the sky captain.

APPLESEED
and i missed this bit of appleseed news from monday. igns new layout confuses me, and its easier to miss news briefs now because of the layout (imo). anyhoo, ign reports that geneon entertainments has acquired the rights to the appleseed movie outside of japan and korea, and will be handling the global theatrical release and home videos. they plan to open appleseed in north america sometime in late summer. word…cant wait.
