we have an eclectic mix at work. todays a quickie post, because im a bit rushed. one…a new x-men 3 director has supposedly been chosen. aicn (via ign) reports that matthew vaughn, the british director of layer cake, has been tapped to replace the ditch-ninja bryan singer. ive never seen layer cake, but it did win a couple british movie awards. so i guess that means it cant be shit…right.

two new james bond replacements have been cited by aicn today…julian mcmahon (nip/tuck and fantastic four) and daniel crag (of layer cake incidentally). ones smoothy-smooth, and the others a hard-ass…coo. still not too familiar with either, but hey, could be a good thing to get a relatively fresh face for the role.

thanks to tg…a large cache of straight-up spoilers from revenge of the sith. they include numerous descriptions of key scenes from the movie, including anakins duel with count dooku. dont worry about the link, you can just click over and view the pretty pics. the spoilers are marked out, so you wont see anything you dont want to see.

CONSTANTINE VS HELLBLAZER
last but not least, ign has some disposable fun pitting constantine vs. hellblazer. the noob american keanu reeves vs. the old-school cocky british sting look-alike. keanu puts up a good fight and takes a couple rounds, but in the end is no match for the original hellblazing constantine.

for those of you who couldnt bring yourselves to watch the O.C. in order to see the new star wars ep3 trailer, aicn did u all a favor and put up multiple links. im still downloading, so cant really say anything for now. the download process is kinda tedious…so itll be a while before i can say “holy fuck” or “what the fuck“. tho from what ive heard, its quite rock. and as an added bonus, its been said that revenge of the sith may very well be the first star wars to be rated pg-13. see, thats hopeful. kill maim slash death…pg-13 hopefully translates into a sick amount of bloody (ok…not bloody per se) lightsaber battles. download faster bitch!

doom…?

i was perusing my old posts yesterday and noticed how much more enthused i was about writing etc. multiple posts a day, each day everyday. i mustve had alot of free time/energy back then….word. hmm so what now? winter doldrums? the blogging shines gone? who knows…but hey, i tread on. in my mind, im telling myself that ill write more when spring comes around and i actually go out again.

DOOM(ed)
so in light of the lack of moving social commentary, i suppose ill bring this up. doom pictures! of you know…the rock and some dudes standing around with guns. first, im not really fly with this movie. no mars and no hell equals i dont fucking know. hi, did you know the whole premise of doom was hell on earth? apparently they didnt. whatever…a picture, woot.

right, and the official one-sheet for star wars eps3 came out the other day too. the samo samo hand-drawn montage of people and stuff shooting. i guess its ok, ive never really been a fan of that series of posters. they look…dorky. iconic in some way, but really dorky.

i know i know, its march. i need a new banner. is there anything besides st. pattys day in march? b/c you know im all for the green shades, but it feels so overused. bleh, i know ill just get lazy and just slap a green background up with shamrocks…and a new babe-o-the-month.

WE LOVE PINCHY
in todays edition of what-the-fuck? news, i mosey over to cnn this morning, and on the front page is the header “bubba the lobster dies after being moved to zoo“. ok, sure. bubba, a giant 22 lb lobster (lobsters are usually 1.5 lbs) has sadly passed away en route to a zoo. marine biologists estimated bubba to be around 30-50 years old when he died. holy shit, i didnt even know crustaceans could live that long. the aforementioned marine biologists then proceeded to boil bubba and flavor him with a light garnishing of parsley and thyme.

WTF?
and this ones just for kicks. a coworker mentioned the other day how duane “the rock” johnson would be playing a gay country-singing bodyguard in an upcoming movie, and my immediate reaction was something along the lines of wtf? so today i coincidentally saw a post on ign about…well, the rock playing a gay country-singing bodyguard in the forthcoming movie be cool. weird. highlight of article…and apparently the movie, will be the rocks rendition of loretta lynn’s “you ain’t woman enough (to take my man)“. more power to ya rock…more power to ya.

full weekend

its a monday morning, and my minds still not exactly firing on all pistons. im actually writing this additional intro after having written the majority of the post already, rereading what i wrote, and realizing its absolute shit. *shrug*

not only did last week seem to fly right by, but the weekend did as well. i think it was the first weekend in a very very very long time where i went out 3 days in a row. thats like, wow. ooh, and i watched two movies…constantine (rock!) and kung-fu hustle (fuckin’ rock!). i grabbed foodies friday nite at yakiniku with sally, then taiwanese drinks at jennys cafe. yum. satty was a late din with marisol and crew at oh! taisho, and sunday was an ikea run and foodage with margie, who i hadnt seen in months…craziness. so now i have an un-made billy bookshelf sitting in my hallway, which i will most likely put off assembling til tomorrow.

so back to the aforementioned movies. firstly, constantine is not for everybody. it takes artistic liberties with its religious subject matter, which could upset certain people. and its definitely not everyday you see an angel tell you that “you’re fucked”. that scene btw, rocked. keanu reeves was definitely rockin’ as constantine…snarky little fuck. and while he will never be the sting-esque brit constantine people want him to be, hes still a damn good constantine. so go see it damnit…gogogo! a bag of shit movie like hitch should never be making more money.

next up is the kung-fu goodness that is kung-fu hustle. it rocks…go get it on dvd, or wait til march when it comes out here…then see it in the theaters. this movie is some hawtness…stephen chow and his crew of regulars, with the addition of yuen woo pings fight choreography. just go see it. im gonna drink my coffee.

oh, and also check out igns set visit to the michael bay production the island, starring ewan mcgregor and scarlett johansson. think logans run meets um…matrix with a freaky medical/biological twist? it sounds interesting, so im game.

SMALLVILLE
one last interesting read. the ny times has a nice article about the rockin’ tv series smallville. the series has had a nice continuous run interweving elements from supermans storied past, most notably christopher reeves’ character. margot kidder also had a recurring role as well, but the article points out how her and the show had a dispute and they had parted ways. too bad. other notable guests (both mentioned and not) include lois lane (obviously), the flash, perry white, terence stamp (general zod) as the voice of jor-el, and hey…even mr. mxyzptlk, who was “a really hot foreign exchange student.” did i miss that episode?

damnit, i cant believe i missed last nites episode of the simpsons. it was apparently the episode where a character comes out of the closet…poosticks. for those that missed it also, it was patty bouvier, one of marges sisters. she was one of my guesses, but my money was on millhouse…or lenny or karl. damn, now ill have to catch it in reruns.

whoa, aicn has a new design. and just when i was getting used to their old-school hand-crafted monstrosity. its not bad…ill get used to it.
