thanks again to #!/usr/bin/girl (your site rocks!), i have discovered the fascinating world of alex chiu. alex chiu is…how you say…”eclectic.” he has an answer for everything…its just that everything sounds a little coo-coo. for instance, he knows how to build a ufo (doesnt everybody?) he also knows what god is, has the (definitive) answer to global peace and unification, can predict the future like nobody’s business, and his coup de grace…immortality rings! thanks to his graciousness, now nobody has to suffer the burden of getting old and shit. thank you alex. you are a king amongst kings.

waah…kasparov lost! crap. kasparov (as black) made a tactical error at move 33 when he allowed fritz to push its rook on his pawn and realized that he had left his rook unprotected (the pawn blocking an attack on the rook was the pawn that wouldve attacked fritz’s rook). after that, fritz had superior positioning and just wittled away kasparovs defenses. ouch. theres only two games left…the next one on sunday. eek. *crossing fingers*

kasparovs at it again. like last years power match against deep junior, kasparov is taking on fritz at new york’s athletic club in a four-game match. the differences this year are: this is a different program…fritz instead of deep junior (obviously), its a four-game match vs last years six-game match, and kasparov will be using vr goggles this time to manipulate a virtual chess board. woo…swishy.

kasparov drew deep junior last year in what i thought was too safe a final game…kasparov was at an advantage when he offered the draw. this year he’ll kick ass and take names.

after watching this video (right-click and save) of potential presidential candidate wesley clark, it saddens me to admit that i think the democrats are screwed in 2004. fuck you and your stupid “straight up with the crew” shit, you fucking idiot. i dont want someone down wit’ the shizzat as president! im not sure what the other democratic nominees are like…but i just want someone to fix the shit economy! its really not too much to ask for, right? its like, hey can i have a number 3 with coke, toss in an apple pie, and resuscitate our economy and balance the budget…

as such…i would like to propose my idea for how to turn this country around. its called the “coronate clinton ’04” campaign. i’d like to lobby to suspend democracy briefly and install an enlightened monarchy til all is kosher again with the country. and the best person to coronate? william j. clinton. word. he’s already had two 4 year terms as president…and as such can’t be elected again. so let’s just coronate the bugger! he can be emperor for 8 years and bring about sweeping changes with an iron fist and absolute power. we could deck him out in swishy emperors regalia, some crazy wigs ala the sun king, and give him one of those coo scepters too…and then impart upon him the power to go around whacking random people over their heads with said scepter. *whack* “ow…what was that for?” “silence you bourgeois monkey!” thats power. id trust him more with absolute power than our current president with limited power.

theres a coo article today in the ny times about comic artist/painter alex ross. ross is pretty well known in comic circles for painting superheroes and the like in a realistic manner. not exactly in a super-photographic manner, but in a stylistic realism akin to 30’s and 40’s serials. he also throws a rockin’ party.

i usually don’t bring up news (aside from the occasional frightening statistic of religion in the u.s.), but i saw this fitting. madame chiang, the wife of chiang kai-shek, died yesterday in manhattan at the age of 106. for those without prior knowledge of china and taiwans history, chiang kai-shek and the kuomintang overthrew the last emperor of china. through subsequent events, china eventually fell into a civil war and the kuomintang fled to taiwan, where they established a democracy. the kuomintang remained in power til just recently when the presidency was won by a non-kuomintang, chen shui-bian. one could liken chiang kai-shek to the george washington of taiwan…though it was madame chiang who brought taiwan to the eyes of the international community. after chiang kai-shek’s death in 1975, madame chiang moved to the u.s., where she’s resided ever since.
