i also wanted to mention an interesting review (from a few weeks ago) of the new ghost in the shell: innocence on midnight eye. its not so much a review as it is an exposition on the philosophical preponderance of what real vs. artificial…a lengthy one at that. the review points out the japanese fascination with dolls and artificial mimics…the need to remake everything. purifying, in a sense, what it means to exist. the review even cites roland barthes for chrissakes…in a movie review. oshii’s innocence elaborates on these ideologies…where do realities lie if the natural can be replicated piece by piece? what boundaries exist between the real and the artificial? least to say, innocence seems to be a significant moment in anime, and the review is definitely worth reading for its philosphical musings.

Not that its has any direct correlation to this post except that this is the cinema section, but have you seen this anime called Tokyo Godfathers it sort of slipped under the radar on me but, i eventually saw it, so if you havent you should definetly check it out.
thanks. i actually missed the movie too when it was playing in nyc. but thats why i have netflix…woo.
Oh really, netflix? hmmm..cool (kewl?/Coo?/ :p )Where do you get your movies, if you dont mind, i havent been able to find wonderful days on dvd, except for a korean dvd rip via streamload ,bootlegging it 😉
depends on where you are. if youre in nyc…hmm, i feel like ive answered this question before…if youre in nyc, then otaku den on broadway and waverly is a coo place to get animes (japanese versions) as well as other asian dvds (its where i got my wonderful days…as well as all my animes). kims video on st. marks is coo too for asian movies.
if ur not in nyc (or if you are and ur lazy)…then theres any number of online shops. otakuden.com, aznfilms.com, hkflix.com, and the granddaddy of them all, yesasia.com
wow, that is some saaad spam. they didnt even finish the code.
