with the return of the king rampaging thru hollywood like a coked-up godzilla, the fantasy genre of movies got a nice boost in respect amongst the industry. another distinguished fantasy literature that was in the process of receiving the cinematic treatment was the narnia chronicles by jrr tolkiens best bud, cs lewis. while that production was initiated before the lotr oscar smackdown, news came today post-academy awards on aicn that disney had signed on to finance and distribute the first movie, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. woo! i think. i have to be honest…i had the entire set as a kid, and it actually just sat on my bookshelf gathering dust. i mean, if you werent that interested in reading to begin with, how would a book about a lion, a witch, and an awe-inspiring fantabulous magical wardrobe see about getting your attention? it wouldnt. so now i wonder whether its still in my room somewhere. hmm…
anyhoo, id be interested to see the movie regardless. im sure that lion does some crazy shit…

What I’d like to see a version of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe that is “passion of christ style”. Like when the witch takes out the lion at the end it’s an uber-violent bloodbath. Then it will be much more powerful when the lion is resurrected. Ooo-they could also do the whole thing in original Narian speech with subtitles! Now that would be awesome.
Seeing as the whole thing is a children’s story and a christian metaphor to boot I doubt they’ll get into that. Sigh. I never get what I want.
shh! ur ruining the plot for me!
and narnia is christian-inspired? gosh i love religious allegories…
Jon, way to give it all away. Now halo is never going to read it…
Did you ever see the version the BBC did way back? Yeah, it was gay. The witch was kind of hot though, but her voice was annoying.
i really should choose one name, shouldnt i? bleh…whatever. there was a bbc version? was it like ralph bakshis 1978 lord of the rings? dorky, yet somehow fascinating? can i use any more question marks?
you know what’s funny? i made an effort to write “veritch pilot” but “halo” got typed instead. Yeah, the lion was real, and thus didn’t ever do anything. The other characters were people in fur suits, and in some cases they were cartooned in super ghetto style.
yea, it looked a little weird…so i edited it. hope you dont feel censored. u kno, tell u what. ill start using just halo again…
