weekend party, part 1-100

current selection | rob d – clubbed to death (first mix)
feelin’ | party pooped

throwing a house party is fun. crazy tiring, but fun. fridays party was originally a house-warming party (5 months past the fact…fuck you)…but after i found out the fonz was going to be in atlantic city for the weekend, it became just a party. then when we found out that liz was going to be leaving for hong kong permanently, it became a going-away party for the liz-meister. if shes going to be leaving our country…she’ll be leaving it drunk! or something…no wait. whatever.

i ran directly home after work on friday to pick up the beer shipment from the doorman before he left for the day. i carted up 2 boxes full of beer cases to my apt (word up betty and liz!) and stuffed my fridge full of beer and beer. after prepping the apt with pretty lights, mixes01+02, and stereo future projected on the wall, i sat around and did absolutely nothing. an hour later…i did more nothing. waiting for a party to start really sucks. i suppose it wasnt all bad. the townhouse across the street from my building was having some kind of party also…so i watched as 20 or so taxis pulled up consecutively and people poured into the townhouse one after another. i have to say…i was a bit jealous. liz and her crew showed up around 11:00…and shortly afterwards waves of people just poured in. partys started i think…woo! the apt filled to capacity with hordes of people…the majority i knew, some semi-familiar faces, and some i wondered whether they didnt just wander in. hmm. the party rocked so hard it hurt. stereo future was replaced with fawlty towers briefly, at the request of aarij. and one cd was swapped for esthero halfway thru also. its odd having to actually play music from a cd…i couldnt run wires far enough from my computer to the living room stereo. pooey. people kept showing up well into the party…never knew my apt could hold so many people.

the day after…
i woke up around noonish on saturday and started the long task of cleaning up the stinky apartment. well…not immediately anyway. i had more to drink than i originally thought and was pretty groggy, so i laid in bed for 2 hours staring at the stipple effect on my ceiling. i got out of bed after i became cross-eyed and began cleaning my dirty dirty apt. 6 bags of bottles and trash and 3 hours of scrubbing down the apartment…oochies. the apt stood pretty resilient to the party, except for two of those twisty rods hanging from the living room blinds. they were nicely converted into 10 separate pieces during the party…fun. there was also a bit of a slight lingering stink in the air, so i opened up the windows and sprayed down the place with some spring freshness. after finishing the scrub-down, i promptly headed down to the lower east side to meet betty and dora at an open studio for a group of architecture firms. it was a pretty coo gathering, even though the crowd was towards the older set. we got to speak to some old professors of ours…two of which had their firms in the studio space. after leaving the reception, we wandered around the lower east side and over into greenwich village, and then grabbed din at a small moroccan restaurant. we then wandered aimlessly up and around the village, passed thru some chess shops, and then strolled into soho to get coffee at cafe gitane. we finally met up with liz around 1:00am and headed to jackies on prince where there were already people waiting for a purported game of twister (??). there were so many willing volunteers that they were forced to draw names from a pile. i snatched the pile later on and proceeded to toss out my name and bettys. me, betty, and dora left around 2:00 and left the rest of them to their own devices. so pooped…so pooped. have a safe trip back to hong kong liz-meister…

this mornings waking was better than saturday morning. i wasnt groggy, and there wasnt a mop with my name on it outside my room. *pss…cleean…cleean…* quiet you. i met betty, alice, and dora for dim sum in chinatown at that big restaurant north of canal on mott. golden palace…phoenix…dragon happy lucky, whatever. they all sound the same. we ate well…and cheap. which makes the “eating well” all the better. we wandered up to zakka after lunch and picked up copies of neomu. after staring at the ample toys and books for a bit longer, we headed north to see about catching a showing of love, actually. there were showings at the 3rd ave loews, but at all the wrong times (you bastards). so that plan was tossed out the window. alice headed back north to hells kitchen, dora and betty went off to a friends place, and i came back to make butt imprints in my bed.
