this has been one of the better mondays. not so much as in what i did…but that i didnt feel all lax and tired like the usual mondays go. woo. i jus talked to someone i hadnt (voluntarily) talked to for over a year…didnt quite turn out the way i thought it would. a bit awkward…cold…one-sided. i suppose thats why things didnt exactly work out a year ago either. c’est la vie…
<end contemplative thinking>
so then i got to talk to ags briefly and felt much better. she left me with a brain teaser that i didnt have the patience or m3ntal focus to solve at the time. whups. mebbe if i post it, ill be able to mull over it tomorrow. woot.
> 4 people are trying to cross a narrow bridge at nite. theres only 1 flashlight, and only 2 of them can cross the bridge at one time. each of them also takes different amounts of time to cross…the first in one minute, the second in 2, the third in 5, and the fourth in 10. they need to cross the bridge in 17 minutes…else, um…jason will hack them to pieces or something. keep in mind, theres only 1 flashlight, and they need it to cross the bridge. when 2 ppl are on the bridge, the person with the longer time is counted towards the 17 minutes. the time it takes for a person to cross back over the bridge is counted towards the 17 minutes too…but they can cross back and forth as many times as necessary. they cant, however, stop and wait on the bridge. 17 minutes…yup.

weird…odd math…
spoiler spoiler. i got it. dun read if you dun wanna know.

A. 1 + 2 go across = 2min
B. 1 goes back = 1min
C. 5 + 10 go across = 10 min
D. 2 goes back = 2min
E. 1 + 2 go across = 2min
total time = 2 + 1 + 10 + 2 + 2 = 17 minutes.
yea…when u figure it out, it seems easy in hindsight. i told my friend to jus shoot the 10-minuter…who the fuck takes 10 minutes to cross a bridge?
To solve the puzzle, I placed everyone in
the real world. I was thinking that the
1 and 2 min people are healthy and fast.
and the 5 and 10 minute people were
either old or injured.
Obviously the injured people should only
make one trip. So I just stuck them
together.
The other answer to this puzzle is:
A. 1 + 2 go across = 2min
B. 2 goes back = 2min
C. 5 + 10 go across = 10 min
D. 1 goes back = 1min
E. 1 + 2 go across = 2min
total time = 2 + 2 + 10 + 1 + 2 = 17 minutes.
