my constant anime ingestion continues…so i thought i’d do a follow-up post about whats been piquing my interest. im still sifting thru my collection too. my supply is far past my ability to consume…yar! must…watch…faster.
toradora! | ya…still going. up to episode 21 and its still a good series.
sekirei | if you like boobs the size of small children, this is your anime. mildly brainless, but the fight scenes are well animated. otherwise nothing exemplary.
fate/stay night | i’d seen alot of figures for fate/stay all over akihabara, so i thought hmm…a series with this many devoted figures (that weren’t all in skanky outfits…*cough* witchblade) couldnt be that bad. and yea…whats the opposite of suck? oh right…awesome. this series is awesome. really well written and animated.
tetsuwan birdy | voted anime with the best gravity-defying outfits…her clothes are glued to her! but besides that tho, its still a pretty good anime. story could be a bit under-explained at times, but i suppose thats ok since its just the first season (season 2 is currently ongoing). its also by the creator of patlabor, so it couldnt be that bad. and regardless of the near-limitless opportunities provided by the premise (boy killed, has spirit implanted in hot female aliens body) and the aforementioned glued-on outfits, its not even the least bit ecchi. like, not even a little…i was surprised (and ok, just a little disappointed). oh, and its by a-1, who also did kannagi mentioned in the last anime post. yea, theyre awesome.
code geass | holy shit. just like…watch it. both seasons too. brilliant story. im man enough to admit i cried a little. even the stupid pizza hut product placements couldnt blemish this series the slightest.
xam’d lost memories | still watching this series, but its pretty good. its by bones (eureka, full metal alchemist), which means at the very least the animations top-notch. its definitely got a miyazaki-vibe to it too…with the production design, characters, etc (one of the female protagonists has more than a passing resemblance to nausicaa).
edit | just finished it. what the fuck just happened?
koihime musou | looked like brainless fun with girls fighting each other in ancient china. ill get around to finishing it sometime…
ive got a number of other series ive yet to watch…ill post them down the road too when i get to watching them. in the meantime…the OP to the second season of tetsuwan birdy…word.

You are a trooper, I haven’t checked out anything new in ages. melancholy of haruhi suzumiya will definitely have to be next, and chronologically. I know thats good for sure, it’s something I can finish.fate/stay night seems cool too though.
tetsuwan birdy sounds so weird, haha. Im prob just out of touch though, I couldnt get into code geass at all, never could finish FMA either.
its hibernation season, so im spending alot of time indoors with nothing to do. and im definitely enjoying anime more now than i ever did…ill probably be keeping up-to-date with new anime from now on. well, til spring rolls around and i head back outdoors.
im starting to get an idea what you look for…ie: animes that arent too long hehe. i personally dug code geass alot, but the (massive) payoff isnt til the very end. maybe its just easier to read the wiki entry then. and birdys not as weird as i make it out to be…its actually very old-fashioned. its fun to watch tho…ill be checking out all a-1 pictures productions from now on because their works just top-notch.
I only saw one episodes of CG I think,I remember this scene where the protagonist runs into an old friend and hes now part of the military, and I think he has to see this friend get killed, and I remember it just seemed like a very forced scene, like it was supposed to be really emotional but it just didn’t hit the right note with me.
FMA, was kinda cool, I tried to stick with it, but it felt uneven. Like the style the anime was drawn in felt really light hearted, and then somebody would turn a little girl and her dog into a chimera.
heh i think you should give cg another try. everything happens for a reason…including that scene. its the first episode too, and everythings being set up very purposefully. cg really is one of the best written and executed animes around, and itd be a shame not give it a shot. fma likewise, but in different ways. theyre both complex animes that cover alot of different themes.
“edit | just finished it. what the fuck just happened?”
hahaha. Hmm was curious x’amd.
Any insight on Planetes btw?
xam’d was ok til the end, when it sucked.
planetes, hmm, thats a fairly old anime (old as in anything older than 5 yrs ;p). never saw it. i have a hard enough time keeping up with current anime as it is. following 10 animes currently this season. shit, 10…
I didnt kno there were 10 different Pokemon anime to watch. R U on Diamond & Pearl? 😛
did you finish macross frontier? it was my first foray into macross. Not sure I’ll finish, awesome mech action, not so awesome j-pop sidestory.
For now at least endless eight concluded. Was thinking of jumping into either Planetes or Darker than black.
see, the jpop part has always been an aspect of the story since the first macross. robotech “conveniently” left most of that out. if you dont dig that aspect, then yea, itll be hard to get into macross.
im currently following haruhi s2 and fma (obviously), canaan, bakemonogatari, and a few others. before that (last season) was eden of the east, hatsukoi limited, k-on, and to aru majutsu no index…
