one thing i have been doing however for a while is getting back into anime. i was more or less out of the loop for a while…i think the last series i got was noein. but i4 sort of got me back into anime (inadvertently) when he gave me macross frontier. since then i’ve just been rolling thru series after series. some really good, some fucking terrible. seriously theres panty shots everywhere. apparently every single female character can only wear mini-skirts now (and in some cases, dont even wear pants)…who knew? i’ll also freely admit to digging the romance comedy genre. i know, i just damned myself…
stuff i’ve watched recently…
the girl who leapt thru time | rockin’. not a series, but a movie. i was going to catch it at the japan society a few months back, but er…forgot to.
macross frontier | definitely quality. and its rife with homage to the original macross (robotech here in the states). i even pre-ordered the vf-25s messiah…ha!
strike witches | garbage. gonzo, you let me down. last exile rocked…this is just a bunch of girls flying around without pants. if you watch this and like it, you’re a dirty old man.
tengen toppa gurren lagann | actually, i watched this a while back, but i’m lumping it into this post because i never mentioned it. thumbs up! very cool how its split between two time frames. and all because gainax liked the dude who did the second (or was it third?) episode of abenobashi so much they gave him a shot at his own series.
melancholy of haruhi suzumiya | i read all these reviews gushing about it, and i was thinking…wtf, its just a typical high school girl whatever series. but i got it anyway and holy fuck, was i wrong. big thumbs up…you have to watch this series. its not what you think at all.
to aru majutsu no index | i just started watching this. ill get back to you on this…
toradora! | actually pretty good. it definitely falls into the high school romance comedy whatever, but its still different. the girl is seriously evil.
wolf and spice | booooring. this is an economics class disguised as an anime. they even threw in nekkid girls! but its still an econ class. *yawn*
kannagi: crazy shrine maidens | and my personal new favorite…kannagi: crazy shrine maidens!. its just weird funny…quirky. and nagi’s ridiculously cute. props to the studio that made kannagi too…a-1 pictures. ive never really seen their work before, but the animations just impeccable. heres to hoping they make a second season…
there were others too…but i’m too embarassed to even admit i watched them. oh hey…bonus. the end theme to haruhi. yea its totally weird, but <3.
I’ll check some of those out, I have not picked up much anime besides keeping up with naruto/bleach.
melancholy of haruhi suzumiya is a bonafide phenomenon, I’ve only checked out one episode though.I did actually watch about ten eps of tengen toppa gurren lagann, but Idk, I lost intrest at that point. Hadnt heard of strike witches, tempted to check it out if only because its gonzo.
The only series I’ve finished in a while is Beck, which was pretty damn good. And I need to catch up/finish with Dennō Coil, which can range from average to very good, but I stuck with it because it has that ghibli feel that Im a sucker for.
id continue with gurren if you could…it only gets better and more outrageous (well, if you like that kind of stuff). the final mecha is the size of a galaxy. ;p
watch out with haruhi…its “aired” order isnt chronological. i had to reorder my episodes for it to make sense. theyre quirky like that. and strike witches, get ready to be let down, and at the same time feel like a dirty wretch for even watching it. put some f’ing pants on people…
i read about beck, but never watched. maybe ill go track it down. and unfamiliar with denno coil…ill go wiki that too.
yeah I was wondering about haruhi, I guess thats what kept me from continuing the series, so you watched it in chronological order then? I remember I did pop in the second ep and it was somewhere completely different, and wasnt sure how to proceed.
Yeah beck was pretty good, cool music too. BTW have you seen Fruits Basket? Thats one another series I actually finished, highly recommended Shōjo, srzly ;P

reorder the episodes…you’ll be doing yourself a favor. you probably watched the craptacularly bad home-made adventures of asahina eh? hehe, i think that was the first “aired” episode, which i think will make little sense if you dont know who anybody is or why they made such a ghetto movie. refer to the wiki entry on which episodes should be what.
