and in completely unrelated news, reading this just blew my mind. the master of shitpoo cinema, uwe boll, will be basing his next video-game-to-shitty-movie adaption on the computer game dungeon siege. thats fine and dandy, something im unfamiliar with that he can poo all over if he wants. heres the crazy part tho. boll’s managed to cast the following people…jason stratham (transporter), ron perlman (hellboy), matthew lillard (scooby-doo), burt reynolds (dukes of hazzard), john-rhys davies (lotr), and leelee sobieski (glass house). seriouly, wtf? did they all collectively drink the kool-aid? how someone like uwe boll can manage to keep making movies…and now collect a cast like this, just completely escapes me. anyhoo, the movie adapations fairly standard sword and sorcery blah blah blah. farmer (stratham) has to save his family from the evil wizard, lord cheesebuttocks, who holds the magical crystal of foshizzle that lets him roll consistent 20’s on his 20-sided dice. ftw!

HANA AND ALICE
last nite was the second outing to the new york asian film festival, this time for shunji iwai’s hana and alice. i hadnt heard of the movie before, but iwais other movie all about lily chou chou was pretty coo, so i fig’d hana and alice would be as good. the storys pretty simple…about 2 best friends (one “cute”, the other “quirky”) as they start high school and pine over the same guy. except that hana (the quirky one) convinces the guy he has amnesia after he bangs his head and tells him that theyre going out, all while alice (the cute one) plays along and pretends to be his ex. hmm, boring summary. ok lets see, the movies pretty damn coo and smirkingly funny. there, summarized. it doesnt hurt that the movies gorgeously shot, and alice (yu aoi), the “cute one”…is really cute. i found it funny that while the “good-looking” halves of best friend duos are usually supposed to be haughty or shallow, alice is modest, funny, and actually pretty nice. that doesnt leave much for hana. poor hana.

collection of random thoughts for today. has anyone else been getting random friendster messages lately? if youre a female ignore this question…im sure you get plenty. ive gotten a number of random messages in the past week. one from what looks like a cowgirl from massachusetts, one whos apparently a nympho in nyc, etc. and none of them have any added friends. fishy. i wonder if i should reply.
the bus stop post on ave. B was knocked down the other day…so as i walked to the bus stop this morning, i noticed that the sidewalk in front of the bus stop thats usually clear (bus lane and all) was packed to the brim with parked cars. thats like, super. it was so inconvenient that the elderly man who uses a mobile chair and usually catches the bus at that stop had to go to a stop further down the street to get on the bus. wtf.
heres one from left field. american mcgee’s alice is apparently still being developed (who knew?), with sarah michelle gellar having been recently cast as alice. go fig. for those unfamiliar, american mcgee’s (thats his name) alice was a video game released in 2000 that was a darker goth reinterpretation of alice in wonderland, where alice had to make her way back into wonderland in order to kill the queen of hearts after her parents were murdered. the current production is being helmed by marcus nispel, who remade the texas chainsaw massacre. it was once attached to wes craven, who had the brilliant notion of putting natalie portman as the titular character. *sigh*…that wouldve been rockin’. anyhoo, id still be curious to see how this project turns out. its been in development hell forever.

the invasion of reality tv continues unabated. the “dont feed the reality tv” signs apparently arent working…grr. anyhoo, cnn has an interesting run-down of some of the upcoming new reality shows. some sound stupid, and some sound (gasp!) kinda fascinating. ack! fuck, ill probably catch some of them just because curiosity is more powerful than common sense and good judgement. amongst the list are my picks for guilty pleasures…

im sure this is old news to alot of people…the unveiling of the new xbox 360, playstation 3, and the new nintendo revolution at the e3 going on right now. and when i say “old” i mean more than 24 hours old, because we’re good like that in the 21st century. theyre all powerful yadda yadda. look at me, im so bloody cool i can render a bajillion polygons a second. and so on and so forth. im personally more of a pc gamer (ever since the premature death of the dreamcast), so the revolutionary graphics blah blah blah are nothing new for many. still coo tho, but um…moving on.
three trailers today…one game-related and two movie-related. and since i began with that random gaming prologue, ill start there. theres a new quake 4 trailer out, and it looks kinda coo. its sporting the doom 3 engine, so its got swishy graphics, moody lighting, et al. i havent been that big of a fan of the carmack quakes (as opposed to the romero-led first one), stroggos and all that. doom 3 was a bit of a bore tho, so maybe the quake franchise running the same graphics engine with considerably more killing (and lights, lamps, and you know…the ability to see things) could be fun.

the trailer for the new wallace and gromit and the curse of the were-rabbit is out, and its looking rockin’. gromit rocks, and wallace is a tool…but thats ok. crossing fingers now for a state-side release…word.
DA VINCI…STUFF
the last trailer today isnt so much a trailer as it is a really brief and uninformative teaser. the new da vinci code teaser trailer is out, and its…yea. there arent any movie clips or anything. just an ominous voice and the mona lisa flying around. but hey, its a teaser, and the movie is a whole year away (to the day almost)…so this is just to whet your palate so to speak.

the new narnia trailer hit the net the other day. it looks interesting. im not really familiar with the novels. we had the entire set sitting on our bookshelves when i was growing up, but i never convinced myself to actually start reading them. *shrug*. it looks interesting enough to check out tho.
POTTER
and now for the good shit. the new harry potter and the goblet of fire teaser trailer is live! woo! its actually just a teaser, but it already looks pretty coo. i also like how they flashed images of harry, hermione, and ron from the last three potter movies. holy crap theyve grown up. so yes…some people might think they look too old for the movies now, but i dont think so. i think its coo that they stay with the characters for as long as they can. age-wise theyll never be able to keep up with the movies, but its not like a few years is really that drastic a difference. i mean, they expected you to believe a bunch of narc officers could pass as high school students in 21 jump street. so i think being a year or two older than their supposed characters is forgivable. yay for potter!
oh, and as an accompanying pic, the new teaser poster for the goblet of fire. its not exciting or anything…but its just a teaser poster, so itll do.

hooray! time to get excited for the next upcoming harry potter again. time flies, and the new harry potter and the goblet of fire movie isnt too far away. muggle.net posted new pics from the upcoming movie the other day, and things are looking pretty coo. new pics of the goblet of fire, fleur, krum, the potter crew, and a bulgarian horntail…woo.
a bit of a heads-up too. the new trailer is also set to be released next monday, so that should be cool.
