matrix reloaded

current selection | cj bolland – sugar is sweeter

ah…ive waited so long for this week…matrix, woo! things kick off wednesday with a reshowing of old school matrix at a friends pad, and then a 9:45 showing on thurs at the 34th st loews. wooha! this is seminal work here…i remember seeing the trailer for the first time and going, “holy shit, didja see how they pan-n-scanned and extrapolated the intermediate frames?!” jk, it was jus the holy shit part. i still have a research paper i did from third year for a technology and theory class, outlining the progenesis of the film semiotics with the architecture of control…still one of my best.

id always hoped matrix would be big. it was revolutionary on so many levels, not jus as a really spank movie. one could argue it single-handedly made dvds viable purchases, pushed film f/x in a way that hadnt been seen since the early 90’s by ilm, and opened up comics, hk kung-fu, and to a lesser extent anime to the mainstream. not to mention it brought to life the artwork of geof darrow, one of my artistic inspirations. 3 days til matrix…wooha!

animatrix trinity

current selection | yann tiersen (amelie) – les jours tristes

friday…rock. cant wait til tomorrow…me, fish, pho, and troche are gonna go see the bebop movie at angelikas. i went fanboy and reserved the tix in advance…jus to be on the safe side. last yr when i tried and do the walk-up during its limited release, i was left standing at the box office. grr. sunday gonna go visit my sis in nj too. we’re gonna do familial things. like…nothing, and sitting around. in the meantime tho, i got this happiness to fill me up for the morning. its the newest animatrix…by shinichiro watanabe (bebop, baby!) its one of the best stylistically so far. its retro-tech 20’s look is pretty amazing to watch. oddly enuf, its not listed on the animatrix site yet. i got the link off of aicn. anyhoo…heres some trinity goodness. (its rockin’ 100+ mgs…so save as)

mothman

movie recap!
i finally got around to watching the mothman prophecies last nite. yea, i kno its over a year old. whatever…it’s not like anything quality came out of late to tempt me otherwise. besides, who doesnt still enjoy a round of monty python? and thats what…nearly 2 decades old! ok, but i digress. mothman prophecies. richard gere is by far the scariest thing ive ever seen. i mean, the way he….oh, wait, he was the protagonist. whups. fine, i guess he was good in the role. a very creepy film. in no small part of course, because of its director mark pellington. the whole “based on actual events” makes it even creepier. its like when they found those blair witch kids’ movie…..what? that wasnt real? geez…those bastards.

err….
anyway, the working week can’t seem to get any longer. im currently working on mildly-entertaining projects at the moment, and as everybody knos, there is a direct correlation between interest and the passage of time/space. theres an equation, i swear. it’s prolly a log or something. so i actually passed out yesterday from boredom….thankfully during lunchtime. ive never slept so good on a mouse pad before. i cant wait for our weekly meeting tomorrow. its like a big prescription-strength sleep pill.
