yesterday was one of the most tiring and argh days at work. i had to fedex things to rotterdam asap…so i had them individually wrapped, ran around looking for a box big enough to hold everything, found one and boxed them, carted the 145 lb box to the pickup area, had all the shipping forms ready for the fedex guy to swing by and pick it up, then was informed right after the box was scanned in that the things being shipped needed individual labels, so i had to tell the fedex guy to cancel the order, cut open all the packaging to apply labels, then retape up the packaging, then pack it back into the box which will hopefully be picked up today. argh. but we had heat right? so that was a little consolation prize. but then the day was further pooed upon when after waiting on the L platform for half an hour after work, they informed us of a stalled train somewhere and that service into manhattan was muerto. super…must find taxi. so we left the station, and my co-worker nearly got hit by a few cars as she chased down a taxi which just happened to be driving by. but we eventually did get into manhattan…and the fare wasnt as bad as i thought itd be ($10…divided by 2 people). it was such a crappy day that i bought myself a porterhouse and grilled it up with a side of tater-tots.

anyhoo, less than a week til lotr now, and theres an absolutely ridiculous amount of new reviews coming in. buggers…all of them. theres also a coo new video up on the official site as well about digital horses, since they didnt want the humane association all over their asses for having fell beasts picking up horses and dropping them.

ah…still no heat in the office. yay fun. i had an odd dream last nite that i was awake, then dozed off, then woke again grumbling about how i was tired and i dozed off. what the hell was that? so i was actually laying in bed for a while after i woke up this morning trying to get my bearings…looking around to make sure there werent babies reciting “john malkovich.“

woo…todays talk-about-lotr day. a week +1 day til the theatrical premiere of the return of the king…and im getting pretty fucking impatient after reading review after review from people who got sneak peeks. grr. two coo things for today. one is an extensive ign interview with peter jackson. he goes into depth about the trilogy and elaborates on his interpretation of the original novels…stating that the theatrical movies were the definitive movies, not the extended versions. the extendeds were primarily for fans specifically, and i can see where he’s coming from. as a movie, the pacing of the extendeds tends to be less uniform than the theatricals b/c the extra material were put back into the movie to elaborate details, not to necessarily progress the movies narrative. as someone who likes to know everything and appreciates details, id take the extended over the theatricals anyday…tho the theatrical versions as a movie are probably more balanced. also of note…after shooting the trilogy, most of the cast went away with an heirloom. elijah (probably) got to keep the one ring, the male cast got to keep their swords….pj however, got the carrot he was chewing on in his cameo in the first movie. framed no less. a carrot…shit. if i were pj, i wouldve smote their ruin.

the second is a new video interview with sean astin about samwise gamgee’s role in the last movie. he talks about the role of servant to master samwise plays to frodo. well…not exactly servant, but he is frodo’s gardener. not mentioned in the video but relevant…its been stated that tolkien based their relationship on his experiences in the british royal army. royal officers tended to have servants called batmen who looked after them, akin to medieval squires and their knights. they were absolutely loyal to their masters, and this is the type of dynamic he played between frodo and sam, not the homoerotic shit certain people want to read from it. even if you havent read the books, you probably get the idea that samwise will be kicking much ass in the final movie. go mikey!

ooh…so close. so close. two and a half more weeks til the national release of the lord of the rings: the return of the king. shit, that seems too far away. in the meantime tho, the world premiere of the return of the king was this past weekend in new zealand, where 100,000 people came out for the celebrations and all the stars showed up looking all swish. cant wait…

the rockin’ trailer for hellboy just came out on yahoo movies the quicktime trailers site. dude, what the fuck is hellboy? are you stupid? jk, i didnt really hear about hellboy til a few years ago too. its a coo comic by mike mignola about a demon who was accidentally summoned during wwii, has since been raised by the u.s., and now fights other demons for the government. weird, yea…but coo. guillermo del toro’s directing and ron perlman is hellboy in the movie…shit does he rock. check out the trailer…

theres an interesting article from fortune.com about the new documentary born rich…made by one of their own, jamie johnson of the johnson & johnson family. the documentary, which aired on hbo last nite (didnt catch it…no hbo. poor me) talks to various heirs and heiresses of butt-loads of money. a trump, a bloomberg, a conde nast heir, and a vanderbilt heir…people who eat gold-plated frosted flakes for breakfast. the documentary looks into the lives of the über-rich and try and peel back the glossy veneer to show that they are indeed just like you and me. except for their really big wallets, the yacht parked out back, and never having to worry about financial security that persists in the minds of the vast majority of the population. no really, theyre just like you and me. ok, sarcasm aside…yes they do have completely different things they worry about beyond just the money…but if i were an heir apparent, i dont think id cry about it. its true that money cant buy happiness, but it can buy so many other things to fill in as materialistic substitutes til you find new methods to acquire the aforementioned “happiness.”

on the other end of the ridiculously wealthy spectrum is of course paris hilton. sex tapes aside, im sad to admit that i am actually looking forward to the paris hilton/nicole richie reality show simple life. i think it has something to do with a talentless princess socialite having to shovel roadkill, or spelling out “anal salty weiner bugers” on a sonic sign…ridiculously funny. i still dont think shes worth the air she breathes…but whatever, keep shoveling that stinky pre-hamburger.

aah! harry potter movie trailers up! the new teaser trailer for the prisoner of azkaban is oot and aboot, and wow is it sweet. it definitely has a different tone than the past 2 movies, primarily because of alfonso cuarón. id only seen y tu mama tambien, so i wasnt really sure what to expect of the new movie. the teaser trailer is rather brief (it is a teaser after all), but i think im going to like this new direction.

to be completly honest, im a relative late-comer to the whole harry potter phenomenon. i was one of those who laughed at it and thought it was for toddlers and pre-adolescents (and i know ppl who think that now still). nutters to me. now im an addict…yay. here are the links, via mugglenet and godrics hollow.

they released a very coo trailer for the upcoming tom hanks movie, the polar express, that wont be out til november 2004. hmm…polar express. sounds familiar, no? its the cg animated movie adaption of the childrens book, the polar express, by chris van allsburg. most of us have probably read that book as kids…along with the likes of maurice sendak and other more traditional fare. check out the trailer…its pretty sweet.

i almost forgot…i wanted to specifically mention agent smith in matrix revolutions. he’s another reason why the movie rocks so hard. smiths calm, repressed demeanor in the past movies was all just a facade that hid beneath the surface a guy who was ready to just explode and heap cans of whup-ass on everybody. he’s pissed, he hates everybody, and he can stick two fingers in your eyeballs and make you him. agent smith/hugo weaving rocks…its just not in question. and even for those who have been jaded with the trilogy thus far, they’ll still want to watch the scene between smith and the oracle, which went something like this.

oracle > ive been expecting you…
smith > of course you have. i knew that you knew.
oracle > i knew that you knew that i would know.
smith > well i knew that you knew that i knew that you knew that i would know.
oracle > your flys open…
smith > *kicks over table*
smith > i hate you…

or something to that affect. for those who hated the dialogue of reloaded immensely, its vindication…and for the rest of us, its just brilliant.

new shrek 2 trailer…yay! its only available in a shrinky-dink streaming format from msn entertainment…but hey, its worth it! mike myers, cameron diaz, eddie murphy, and now they have john cleese and julie andrews too….rock! get your shrek on…

i need to find those movie critics who trashed the matrix revolutons (wantonly…not explicitly, as there were points for criticism) and bitchslap them stupid. what the fuck is wrong with you?! matrix revolutions was a “visual tour d’force of groundbreaking proportions” (ive always wanted to write that). jk, it wasnt groundbreaking, but it was brilliant to watch. the first matrix was the groundbreaking original, the second the overly-hyped media juggernaut (i personally loved it), and the third the rollercoaster finale. the movie is in my opinion the most entertaining of the three…due mostly to the lite dialogue (ill admit…there was little dialogue) and the siege of zion. the entire sequence is amazing. just as youre sitting in your seat with your eyes super-epoxied to the screen as the apu’s are taking down thousands of sentinels…and youre thinking to yourself “this is some crazy shit“, the actual sentinel “horde” comes pouring thru the breached walls and youre going, “jesus h. christ in a chicken basket!” ill probably puke when i see that sequence on the imax.
