one of the guys from lustra…im guessing jason…(hey der!) happened to come across my eurotrip post with the dont tell scotty video and wanted some things clarified. so i thought id post it up front and center.

hmm, a bit of an understatement. jason, you sound nothing like the scotty track…which is coo. but shit, id be lying if i didnt admit to finding the scotty track catchy. dude, its catchy. as for the video…its grade-school, and possibly even farted out in an afternoon binge of chalupas and quesadillas. but i personally cant find fault in a video that gratuitously shows off kristin kreuk. *shrug* anyhoo, thanks for dropping by yo.

wooha, no more random headaches! bad bad illness is finally over (hopefully). im still not 100% sure what caused it (no fever), but i think ill be staying away from dallas bbq for a while. so, to um…”celebrate” my getting better, i decided to venture out last nite after work. i met up with jane and eli to grab a quick thai din at spice before heading down to the les to watch janes bf john spin at orchard bar. din was kinda rushed, so we stuffed down our dishes, doggy-bagged the rest, and cabbed it to orchard in time to see the start of johns set. he was spinning dnb, which i cant say ive heard spun in a really long time. not that ive been to a club or rave in recent times (years)…and not that dnb was even that “club-friendly” to begin with. shit, am i that old? bugger. *cough* anyhoo…it was a coo set, with johns set destroying the bpm, and then his friend easing it down after he took over. i had one round of drinks (they had no tonic, so i asked for ketel and sprite…blech!), took a bunch of retard photos, and then left early around 1ish while jane and eli stayed to watch as john took to the turntables again. whew.

so who had a nintendo when they were growing up? ok, not me…i wasnt so fortunate back then. but everybody else and their sisters seemed to have one, so i didnt necessarily need one myself. zelda, metroid, punch-out, kid icarus, contra…the list of fond childhood video game memories just geeks on and on. theres an article on wired about a band out of phoenix who managed to extend their swishy video-game days well into their adulthood…and are now the minibosses, a cover-band that doesnt actually cover other bands songs, but soundtracks from old-school nes games. word. nes-games…and only nes (except mario). that so rocks. theres even band rivalry too! theres apparently another vid-geek-rock band called the neskimoes who poos the minibosses and sound decidedly geeky. “…They have a Web site that disses the Minibosses, because they won’t perform the theme to Mario. “It’s like an A-ha cover band not playing ‘Take on Me,'” says Dr. Wily, the NESKimoes’ lead guitarist.” shit, dr. wily? i wonder if the bassist is the eggplant wizard. hopefully things will get nasty soon and theyll start flinging nes cartridges at each other shuriken-style. the life of a rockstar…rock on…

word to fonz for pointing out this badass kung-fu bboy video of the chemical brothers track get yourself high. the video, directed by joseph kahn (who just did torque), was actually released back in december…but better late than never, right? the chem brothers lifted scenes from the old-school 1978 kung-fu flick the two champions of shaolin (shaolin yu wu dang) and replaced the swords and knives with mics, vinyls, headphones, and silver boomboxes. they even got the lips to sync with the rhymes of the rapper k-os. too badass. check the kung-fu bboy stance and the headphone smack-down yo.

ooh…the cheese steak i had for lunch is making my stomach make funny noises. brech. my computer is crawling along. i somehow got my hard drive down to 1 gig this morning and was having problems with photoshop b/c it ate another 800 mbs for its scratch disk and couldnt cache anymore. so i had to go thru my computer dumping temp files and erasing as much extraneous crap as i could afford….now its up to 3 gigs again. poo. so all this geek talk is making my stomach grumble even more…id better stop.

after going thru my mp3 collection and axing a number of tracks i had no idea how i acquired (morning musume?), i noticed that my music collections really skimpy right now. nothing new coming in. the one highlight i had in the past was that i did this cd swap thang 2 months ago with someone i had been emailing (long story). i didnt really kno her, but she was pretty coo to msg and i was pretty excited to get some more tracks to expand my search from (at the least). i sent my cd off months ago…and ive been waiting for the purported “swap” ever since. yea…super. haven’t heard much from her either….i think she’s scared of me or something. so in the meantime im still listening to the same stuff. *sigh*
