quick note. i added a new category…archive | favorites…where i collect some of my favorite posts from the past. personal favorites…so theyre pretty random.
m3ntal vacation
i think ill take a day off from blogging.

what the poo fuck…
im not going to try and be hypocritical and self-righteous and say that ive never perused another website to get ideas from. the very nature of design is to follow in the footsteps of the swish designs that preceded yours, and to hopefully learn and build from them. this is however the first time ive seen someone just lift my design and regurgite it. its not even design! its mirroring. for chrissakes, they lifted my blog layout…which isnt exactly the watershed for high design.
*shrug*…i suppose i should feel flattered. i hope they tweak it a little tho. the layouts a little unbalanced…

feh
its a hump day. bleh.
maybe ill write later…

random thoughts
firstly, it is ridiculously nice out right now. i need to get “sick” real fast right now. two random cinematic m3ntal notes permeating my brain at the moment.
one…bend it like beckham is, sad to say, much better on dvd with subtitles as an option. i flipped on the subtitles a number of times while watching it this past weekend. i mean, theyre speaking english and all, and i understood most of it. but it was just incoherent baby-talk in a few scenes…i couldnt have even begun to guess what they were saying until i turned on the subtitles. its ok tho keira…youre still cute.

and two…i noticed this just recently. that vicious little dude from the rundown. manito…the little dude who kicks the shit out of the rock…thats ernie reyes jr of the 80s tv show sidekicks! ive always wondered what happened to little ernie lee. now tho…holy shit, the dudes diesel. hes since become a 4th degree black belt in tae kwon do and a light welter weight muay thai competitor. fucking vicious. this dudes been kicking ass since his days as prince tarn of red sonja yo.

poo-sticks. this is the first month i went over my bandwidth limit for my website…so i had to pay a little extra for additional bandwidth. argh. so last nite i went about to resolve some of these issues, b/c i dont really want to hop hosts again. first, i re-optimized alot of my older images…so theyre probably 25% smaller in file size. i also went back and modified the way my category archives are handled, since it had in the past just listed every single post of a particular category…which was especially problematic for categories like journal and cinema, each of which had over a hundred entries. eek. so now the category archives just lists the 10 most recent, and the rest as links. what else? oh yea…well, the main reason i actually went over isnt because i have an assload of people reading my site (right?). its because little cockmunches kept lifting images from my site and sucking up bandwidth use. its been a persistent problem…more recently than before. one wank in particular used an image of mine over 19,000 times for some italian chat client. grr…vafanculo! so we’ll see if any of this makes a difference next month. hopefully they will…but if they dont, someones going to hurt!!!
not good
id been sipping my green tea all morning from my casual swank stellas tumbler, and went to refill it with hot water just a second ago. as i popped off the top, i looked in to see no tea bag string, so i swished the tumbler i few times to see if the tea bag had fallen in. after a few seconds, i realized that there was no tea bag, and that i never actually added one to the hot water this morning. right. i think its time i maybe gave my tumbler a thorough rinsing…

assassination attempt
firstly, the big news of the day. for the most part, real news from the world outside my head usually never make it into these posts (hence tossing this post straight into the “misc” category), but this was definitely worth noting. there was an assassination attempt on the taiwanese president today a day before the taiwanese presidential elections. chen shui-ban was shot in the stomach, and the vice-president annette lu was grazed in the leg as they rode in the back of an open-roofed jeep during a rally in tainan. neither injury was life-threatening, and the president immediately went about to calm the nation after being released from the hospital. there have been no arrests, and nobody saw the assailants as they had fired from the crowd as firecrackers were being set off.
this is personally a bit unsettling, since my dad is back in taiwan for the elections and id rather not have him being caught amidst political violence. taiwan for the most part doesnt see much political violence (other than the fist-to-fist brawling in the legislature), so its odd to hear of assassination attempts. tho this years election in particular is hotly contested, with the two platforms, the ruling dpp party and the older kmt nationalists, having opposing ideas about the future of taiwan. for those unfamiliar with taiwans history, the nationalists who ruled china after wwii fled to taiwan after the communist revolution. the nationalists, or the kuomintang (kmt), ruled taiwan for the next 50 or so years under the auspices of the “republic of china”…signaling that they had always intended to return to china. over the years however, taiwan prospered economically as a sovereign nation, as did china after the death of chairman mao. it wasnt til just 4 years ago that the kmt finally lost the elections and the democratic progressive party (dpp) came into power, with their stance that taiwan should be more independent. so this year sees a crossroads of sorts, whether taiwan should continue its path towards more independence, or a more moderate approach to sustain the ambiguous ties between taiwan and china. if put in the situation, im not even sure which one i would pick. one is idealistic, and the other more pragmatic…two contrasting poles that never seem to offer a right or wrong answer.

pirates and dancing spots
ahoy-hoy…its always fun when you open up your statistics and notice that one image has been viewed 4,000 times and by itself accounted for 8% of your total bandwidth use. bandwidth pirates! grr!!! i suppose its one of the downsides of having an image-heavy journal…the journals basically a big database of random imagery. i had considered replacing the pirated image with a big happy image of bouncing jubblies…but then thought that it might cause more bandwidth piracy. so i just renamed the image.
and just so you know, i for the most part dont really mind if people lift images. this isnt the first image that was lifted from my site…and ive done my share of image lifting in the past. my first website in 1996 was just a random mess of anime pics, swirly backgrounds, and those coo little dancing 7-up spots. ah…the 7-up spots. anyway, alot of my images find their way to other peoples journals, which im coo with. when they hit forums tho (which many seem inclined to do) then we have problems. maybe if its near the end of the month and i have ample bandwidth, ill go find some porn to replace the other stolen images with.
and dont even get me started about eurotrip posts. for now tho…dance bitch, dance!

no pants day
greg…what the hell is this? this “no pants day” thang? please enlighten me, because the thought of people running around in their undies frightens me. not completely frightenening mind you, since i can think of many instances of happiness. but generally speaking, that “happiness” will most likely be tempered with fright at the thought of certain people hopping around without their pants. jigglies, thunder thighs, sweatered asses, etc…
