first…a brief recap of things done in the last few weeks. good thing i keep this shit in my iphone calendar, or else itll all be lost and forgotten.

oh fuck, i guess it stretches back a bit. whuuuups. k, so rewinding all the way back to the weekend of march 20th, jane was in town from japan! i hadnt seen her since my rockin’ tokyo trip from a year ago (almost to the day too…ha!). we roamed, drank, ate, and just marinated in my apartment. it was good. interspersed the following weeks and weekends (and not jotted in my calendar) were a meetup with fish in jersey finally after i dont know how long, a din with the fonz at blue smoke (chicken fried steak…yurmy yurm), di’s bday at bourgeois pig and decibel, din at excellent pork chop house followed by a weird run-in at apotheke with both di and her crew as well as m and chris…coincidentally, and numerous ramen runs with di (we love our ramen). korean fried chicken at bon chon and boka were thrown in there liberally too…

april 10th was margies bday bash at APT. shes since moved back from dc, so we partied it up…word. that was followed with brooklyn roaming with m and chris as they looked around at apartments. theres some niiiice apartments in brooklyn. and just this past tuesday was a ramen meetup with sara at minca ramen factory, whos back from japan (well…has been for a while now).
whew.

BE KIND, REWIND
this is a common thing now, the big rewind posts to cover entire months now. but back in the day, i was much more dedicated to updating the blog. back when everything i did seemed new and holy shit exciting. not to say things arent holy shit exciting anymore, but the new-ness definitely could do for some burnishing.

the fun part about having a blog tho (well…one thats actually updated regularly), is that it’s easy to go back in time and recollect what you did a year ago, two years ago, three years ago, etc…when things did still seem new. and so based off a small twitter janelle posted, i thought it’d be fun to rewind bit by bit.
i think i’ll rewind as far back as my journal takes me…

24 hours ago | i was eating a chocolate croissant. it was gud.
a week ago | was margie’s bday. hey…i just posted about that!
a year ago | i was packing for my tokyo trip! it was subsequently followed by all. kinds. of. awe.some.nes.s…
two years ago | looks like the first rooftop bbq of the year at dora’s. aw…memories…
three years ago | house party at dre’s in brooklyn! and i got to see fish’s dog dakota for the first time…
four years ago | ha…was coincidentally janelle’s 30th bday party…
five years ago | me and fishs first urban bike tour thru manhattan of the year.
six years ago | as far back as my journal goes…and another bike tour thru the central park’s cardiac hill. ha!

ah memories…

i had my first dream in a long while that i was able to actually remember. maybe because it was so weird…or a premonition? ooooh. i dreamt that i was hanging with my niece. her age at this point is ambivalent…tho i would assume that it was her current age (1 year). so we’re hanging, playing in the snow, etc…and i immediately take notice that she’s more loquacious than i last remember. like, to the point of being some kind of weird juno via one of those annoying gilmore girls type hybrid. well…sans the gilmore girl aspect (god shes fucking annoying), i dont think id actually mind if my niece turned out to be a little juno (i can do without the whole getting impregnated part). it was just weird tho, listening to a little 1 year old toddler sass me.

its been a veeerry long time since i sat down and doodled something. im looking…yep, looks like 2003 was the last time i drew something. i didnt even finish coloring that one either. since then however, my photoshop skills have grown considerably. like…a fuck ton. coupled with my semi-new wacom (its not really new, i just never actually used it) i thought id give it another go. and word…chicks in metal bikinis! its always a good place to start. this ones of my death knight veil, give or take a metal bikini.

i still need to work on lights and shadows. they always seem muddy and undefined in my illustrations…bleh! k what else can i draw? hmm…

big day today. i’ve waited eight years for this. eeeeeeight long years since that sad sad day in 1999 sitting in the computer lab of rand hall refreshing the browser all nite long til i gave up, went to sleep, and woke up the next morning to a new era of fail.

man, its been 6 years since i started blogging. and each year i progressively post less and less, whether its out of laziness, distractions, or more likely than not, the posts would be too pedantic and repetitive. my life is a revolving carousel now…woot. i thought about just throwing in the towel, but grr…then i think how nice it is that i can just peruse the journal for a log of my uninteresting life. so…meh…ill keep posting til my hands pop off.

since its a new year, ill just pretend that whatever i did between my last post and now never happened. it was admittedly a good holiday season, albeit an early one (in my mind), and it wasnt all too cheery, given the poop that is our current social climate. but its 2009 now, i should get used to that.

addendum | k screw tomorrow…he’s already won. yay! hooray!

i think tomorrow’s going to be a good day. decidedly better than 2004, and definitely better than the “oh fuck me” fest of 2000.

huh, that was decidedly uncomplicated. there were all of 3 people in front of me. i was going to take photos to submit to ny times…but ya, not much really to take photos of. oh well…its done. i admittedly skipped the last election, primarily because of the election results before that concerning a certain florida being snatched away.
