outdoor jocking

u kno…the whole blackout thing was prolly a good thing for the collective fatness of nyc. i mean…it got ppl outta the apt and walking, right? ill bet u ppl from 500 years ago could kick all our asses.

i decided to get some sleep thursday nite during the blackout, since there were no flashlights in my apt (except for our cell phones). but since all the windows were open and i could hear all the partying outside, i got jealous and headed out to look for the parties. after heading down to the street level, up a block, back to my building, into the back patio, and then up to the roof…i couldnt find shit and gave up. grr. where was all the hooting and drinking coming from?? mysteries….

friday i got up and decided that i wanted to bike. so i took a screwdriver and hammer and oh-so-gently fixed the shocks on my bike (theyd been outta commission for 2 months). i headed out on my bike and made my way up to central park for some relaxing non-electricity-dependent fun. actually…by the time i got up to midtown, they had already gotten their power back. bizatches! anyhoo…i biked up, hit the great lawn, and talked on the phone with ags in cali for a while. fish called me up to see what i was up to…whether i wanted to get outta nyc for the day and go tear thru some trails. im like…woo! so i take the path out to newark and we head off to tear thru the trails of the tourne. we have din at panera’s and catch a game of chess (ass-kicked. er…) after getting back to nyc, i bike up to marisol’s and we go have drinkies around hells kitchen.

anyhoos…jus got back from blading with pho down the west side highway. ah…relaxing. except for the odd rainshowers. but whatever. my parents brought me my nike blades last weekend…and i hadnt used them since…college? holy. anyhoo…it felt like i was still in form. i couldnt stop, but who needs to stop? stoppings overrated.

ah…time to retire the ole v60. my motos been thru too much in its 18 month lifespan. it got dropped…dropped again…dropped down a flight of concrete steps…dropped again…and then drenched by a bunch of punkasses next to an open hydrant. little buggers. if it werent for the fact that its shell was anodized aluminum, there’d prolly be a few pieces missing right now. anyhoo…i think that last incident with the punkasses killed the mic, so ppl were having trouble hearing me. combined with the fact that ive wanted gsm for some time (and those sim cards!)…and that the legislation to let u keep ur cell phone numbers thru different carriers was taking too long…i jus went ahead and signed up for t-mobile. there were basically only 2 phones currently out that i was interested in (the siemens was taking too long also…sigh)…the samsung v205 and the sony/ericsson t610 (sorry greg!) the place i went to didnt have the sony/ericsson…so woo, now i have a samsung. and it takes pictures too. woooo. the only downside is that its not nearly as swish as the v60 with its shexy shexy aluminum.

no, neither my work or home computers were infected. but ppl in this article make me laugh.

I just don’t see why, after spending thousands of dollars for a computer, I should have to devote all this time to taking care of it,” he said. “No one told us it’d be a full-time job to have a computer. We just wanted to be able to e-mail our kids at college.” – maintenance, asscrack. good thing his kids grew themselves up and sent themselves off to college too.

I’ve been getting these pop-ups on my new computer’s screen saying there was a patch that was downloaded and did I want to install it now,” said Kathy Greeves, a schoolteacher. “I thought it could be an attempt to hack my computer, or give it a virus, so I always click ‘no.’ I thought I was being smart.” – too smart for the system.

feelin’ | miffed (i erased the original entry! argh!)

i hate typing out alot of shit and then losing it. *shrug* my parents came to see my new apartment yesterday for the first time. so i asked them to bring a few things…

what i asked for
– 1 case of tung-i ramen
– 1 case of apple sidra (yum!)
– my sewing machine, nike blades, and my stereo

what they brought
2 cases of tung-i ramen (oh shit)
2 cases of apple sidra (oh sh…wait…rock!)
7 packs of gyoza
– my sewing machine, blades, and stereo (check)
– 3 of my super-soakers (i kept one)
– random kitchen and bath stuff

now our cupboards are filled to the brim with ramen…and thats jus one case. my hair will be gone in 3 months time. after unloading the stuff, my parents took me and my roomie fonz for lunch. we went to my fav noodle shop, soba-ya since i hadnt been there in months. we all ordered lunch sets…which came out half an hour later. whups. they felt bad about the lateness, so we got free ice cream to boot. woo! we then went shopping at sunrise where i went nuts (since they were paying). after we got back to my apt and my parents headed off, scottie dropped by from yale. rock! actually, he was going to a concert that nite, so he was in the city for the day. which was coo b/c rosen (another hs bud) was dropping by also to discuss my illustrations for his forthcoming book of screwed up fairy tales. wow…mini montville hs reunion. like one of langa’s bbq’s.

harry potter invades my dreams

i think my dreamcatcher needs a tune-up. the details are already starting to fade, but here goes. me and a group of 4 other wizards are making our way to this large forboding castle in the middle of the nite. we’re all wielding our wands (mine’s duct-taped with silver and tinfoil b/c its aim is off??). theres apparently a crazy ghoul named gaz running loose around the place, and everybody is afraid to go back into the castle until its gone. i suppose we’re wizard ghostbusters. so after we head to the wrong forboding castle (theres apparently 2 next to each other), we head to the right one. we’re approaching it and i point out that gaz is holed up in the top-most portion of the castle, a mini-castle protruding from the top of a spiral tower at the northwest corner of the main castle. its pretty creepy looking…as far as forboding castles go. as we get to the entrance, we have a discussion about how to deal with the ghoul. one of the other wizards (bob?) says that ghouls are like dementors, and that we’ll need a patronus spell to counter them. like those specific potter references? everybody begins to practice their patronus spells as we enter, and i realize that ive forgotten how to cast my patronus. crap. so silver ducks, piggies, and other odd farm animals are flying left and right from the wizards’ wands, and we eventually reach the stairs leading to the tower. i attempt one last time to cast patronus….my wand goes nuts, and i wake up. wtf?

a few m3ntal notes as i was laying in bed holding my non-existent duct-taped wand. id specifically remembered the castle from another dream…but i only recalled this while in the dream. this has happened alot of times before…where while im in a dream, ill recall that id seen a certain house, or location, etc before from a past dream. not from the real world, mind u…but specifically “within the collective dream world” in a sense. but i wouldnt be able to remember what specifically (or at least details of such) after ive woken up….as if the memories were locked specifically within my subconscious, separated from my conscious memory. odd. also, while i was in this particular dream, all the wizarding and potter-specific references and the like seemed common-place. as in, while in the dream, i didnt go “like in potter…lets use the patronus spell.” nope…it jus seemed normal. the mind is too weird. on the even odder note…i cant believe i actually remembered the name of the ghoul as gaz.

feelin’ | double yay!

when my pst entry was selected to appear today on their site, coudal.com sent me an email to inform me. even tho the email was signed by one anthony, the return address was for kevin guilfoile. im like…wait…that sounds familiar. turns out that its the same kevin guilfoile who writes the madelyn murray o’hair short stories (and others) on the morning news. ok, so it actually states that he’s a creative director at coudal in his bio, but i never actually read his bio, ok? anyhoo, i actually went ahead and replied to tell him i enjoyed his madelyn stories…and i got a reply!

…Thanks for the kind words about my Morning News stuff. You made my day. Another Madelyn installment is scheduled for September, actually.
And your PsT volley is outstanding. Good luck.
Best,
Kevin

woo! *ego begins to inflate*

anyhoo…check out the madelyn murray o’hair in hell stories on the morning news…good reads (that is, if you don’t take heaven and hell too seriously). and thanx to my roomie fonz for originally directing me to the stories.
