{"id":632,"date":"2004-05-27T10:05:58","date_gmt":"2004-05-27T10:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.m3ntalcontraband.com\/?p=632"},"modified":"2020-11-09T10:37:17","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T15:37:17","slug":"blog_blog_blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/?p=632","title":{"rendered":"blog blog blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text-paragraph\">wired has a coo read today about blogging maestro nick denton, head of the gawker media group, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/wired\/archive\/12.06\/blog.html?tw=wn_tophead_3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">weird world of blogging<\/a>. the article tracks the rise of mainstream blogging via denton, looking into his stable of blogs that include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gizmodo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gizmodo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gawker.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gawker<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wonkette.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wonkette<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fleshbot.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fleshbot<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinja.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">kinja<\/a>. you get to learn, among other things, his new residence in soho (he no longer lives across from me in alphabet city), the approximate compensation his bloggers get ($1500ish a month), and that he has an assload more blogs lined up to unleash upon the (blogging) world. the article also looks into how his little blogging empire has evolved, from the early days of gizmodo and peter rojas, gawker and elizabeth spiers, to their eventual departure and replacements. its an interesting read, to say the least\u2026looking into how denton systematically built up his mini-empire of semi-profitable pro-blogging. it however wont give you any insight into why so many prominent bloggers are such snarky elitist condescending dicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\">&gt;
