since my brain isnt working to full capacity (lets say\u2026half the cylinders are out of commission) i think ill take today to just highlight my new anime du jour (mois?)\u2026<i>azumanga daioh<\/i>. this series features a staggering 130 episodes\u2026that are um, 5 minutes each. hehe. lump some together, break it down, and i suppose you get 26 episodes. based off of kiyohiko azuma\u2019s comic strip featured in the <i>electric shock daio<\/i> mangas, <i>azumanga daioh<\/i> follows the sometimes weird, sometimes asinine high school life of half a dozen girls, three of their teachers, a vicious cat, and a floating imaginary cat. right. amongst the myriad of characters, theres sakaki\u2026the quiet athletic one whom girls look up to, tomo (the wildcat)\u2026the hyper-competitive one who prefers \u201crunner-up\u201d to \u201closer\u201d, ayumu\u2026the brainless transfer from osaka who gets the nickname \u201cosaka\u201d just because shes from osaka, and chiyo\u2026the 10-year old prodigy whom osaka is convinced has detachable pigtails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\"><i>azumanga<\/i> is based off of a serial comic\u2026more akin to western comics than manga (think 4-panels), so its something to see <i>azumanga<\/i> translated to an anime series. as such, an episode generally consists of 5 shorts that may or may not be related to each other. each ones like a little vignette, which could continue into the next vignette\u2026so theres really no over-riding plot other than the fact that theyre going thru high school. <i>azumanga<\/i> actually kind of just cruises along, observing their everyday lives from their first day to graduation. the humor is never forced, and is instead drawn from simple and stupid circumstances\u2026like watching two uncoordinated people attempt to practice volleyball (its rather sad), the brutal honesty of the pedophile classic lit teacher kimura when asked why he teaches (\u201c<i>because i like high school girls and stuff!<\/i>\u201c), and the trauma-inducing \u201c<i>yukari-mobile<\/i>\u201c. there are probably few animes out there that are even as remotely funny as <i>azumanga<\/i>, so def check it out. and dig the big floating orange cat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\">&gt; <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.advfilms.com\/titles\/azumanga\" target=\"_blank\">azumanga daioh official site<\/a><br>&gt; <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.advfilms.com\/titles\/azumanga\/filmstrip\/musical.php\" target=\"_blank\">azumanga daioh musical trailer<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"330\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/azumanga1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6004\" srcset=\"https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/azumanga1.jpg 330w, https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/azumanga1-248x300.jpg 248w, https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/azumanga1-250x303.jpg 250w, https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/azumanga1-149x180.jpg 149w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>argh\u2026my brain is leaking out my nose. i think im dying. wheres my chicken noodle soup?
