i was originally going to save this post for the one-year anniversary of my boredom-induced blogging (the exact date is january 28th), but its prolly more appropriate as a new year retrospective anyhoo. ah 2003\u2026ye flew by so fast. so to kick off another year of breathing oxygen and taking in digestibles, here is a look back at coo happenings from 2003 for none of those that care\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2003 IN RETROSPECT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. \u2026aggies visit from beijing (and subsequently the first thing i posted about.)<\/li>
  2. \u2026the start of journaling\/blogging with the opening of a xanga<\/a> account.<\/li>
  3. \u2026and then bailing xanga for movable type<\/a>. then realizing movable type is complex and going back to xanga. but then watches as tien<\/a> sets his up and converts over, and wants to jump on bandwagon. so re-sets up movable type and converts permanently.<\/li>
  4. \u2026kasparov taking on a computer again\u2026this time deep fritz. gets ass handed to him on several occasions, but eventually draws the 6 game series.<\/li>
  5. \u2026hauling my ass out of my parents home (finally) and taking residence in union square. soon discovers new roommates um\u2026..\u201dquirks\u201d.<\/li>
  6. \u2026and is eventually convinced roommate is the missing link of evolution when asked how laptops run without plugs, how to control the volume on the remote, and an infinite number of other frightening questions.<\/li>
  7. \u2026discovering the joys of asian cinema. japanese\/korean dvd purchasing ensues\u2026<\/li>
  8. \u2026rocking the nyc asian film festival\u2026and all was good\u2026<\/li>
  9. \u2026rocking the ny\/tokyo film festival\u2026which wasnt as coo as the asian film festival, but nonetheless rockin\u2019\u2026<\/li>
  10. \u2026watching (and am still disturbed by) the masterpiece that is sympathy for mr. vengeance<\/a>.<\/li>
  11. \u2026mourning the passing of mr. rogers\u2026<\/li>
  12. \u2026mourning the passing of madame chiang, chiang kai-shek\u2019s wife\u2026<\/li>
  13. \u2026enjoying 2 matrix lovin\u2019\u2026bollocks to all the haters\u2026<\/li>
  14. \u2026beginning (and continuing) my attempt to convert myself from a scrawny asian, to a slightly-less scrawny asian by hitting the gym.<\/li>
  15. \u2026anticipating, and then being let down by the shite that went down with the field day festival<\/a>\u2026<\/li>
  16. \u2026getting drunk and waking up with a tattoo. jk\u2026no alcohol was involved. ouch.<\/li>
  17. \u2026moving into a rockin\u2019 new apartment in alphabet city with fonz, who i know to be of sound mind and laptop knowledge.<\/li>
  18. \u2026friendstering til it hurt.<\/li>
  19. \u2026welcoming a new group of cornell alumns to nyc\u2026<\/li>
  20. \u2026surviving the blackout of 2003 by sleeping thru it. then bailing for greener pastures in nj.<\/li>
  21. \u2026getting trashed on my 25th. two-five\u2026a quarter\u2026argh!<\/li>
  22. \u2026having greg<\/a> take photos of my old town in texas and sending me the cd as a bday present. holy shit, you still rock\u2026<\/li>
  23. \u2026improving my chess game infinitely against pescado.<\/li>
  24. \u2026being disappointed by cai guo-qiangs non-existent halo<\/a> in central park.<\/li>
  25. \u2026fulfilling a childhood dream and buying a light saber<\/a>. rock on!<\/li>
  26. \u2026hitting alot of rockin\u2019 houses parties, including halloween in chelsea as a crazy 88\u2026<\/li>
  27. \u2026and throwing my own rockin\u2019 house party<\/a> (actually my first since sophomore year of high school. sweet sixteen, word) which doubled as liz\u2019s going-back-to-hk party.<\/li>
  28. \u2026not watching many movies this entire year, but buying an ass-load of dvds. of the ones i did watch (cinema, dvd, or otherwise), these rocked the most\u2026

    > kill bill v.1
    > lost in translation
    > my sassy girl
    > ping pong
    > pirates of the caribbean
    > stereo future
    > sympathy for mr. vengeance
    > the lord of the rings trilogy (over and over again\u2026)
    > the matrix reloaded and revolution.

    LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2004<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. more rockin\u2019 parties.<\/li>
    2. taking a class. photo mebbe?<\/li>
    3. \u2026and coincidentally, take better pics!<\/li>
    4. draw more, damnit\u2026<\/li>
    5. enter more competitions\u2026<\/li>
    6. \u2026mebbe even an architecture competition\u2026<\/li>
    7. chill.<\/li>
