in lieu of my usual seasonal anime post, i think i\u2019ll just post about this specific anime for now.\u00a0 maybe i\u2019ll get to a full-on anime post down the road.\u00a0 it\u2019s been a few seasons already since the last one, no?\u00a0 feh\u2026whatever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a new anime cropped up this season, yozakura quartet<\/a>.\u00a0 or so i thought.\u00a0 apparently this is the second iteration of the series\u2026the first debuting in 2008.\u00a0 i don\u2019t really remember how much anime\u2019ing i did back in 2008, so i\u2019m not surprised i missed it. i did the research however after watching the first episode of the new season\u2026the series creator was the illustrator for another favorite of mine, durarara!!<\/a>.\u00a0 the similarities can definitely be seen in the character designs.\u00a0 the reason i did the info digging was because, holy shit, it is seriously one of the best looking animes i\u2019ve seen in a long while.\u00a0 i of course immediately went looking for the original release, and have so far been severely let down by the animation quality.\u00a0 no criticism of the series itself, but the old series and this new one couldn\u2019t have possibly been animated by the same studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

erm, so on closer inspection, the new series is an OVA and is actually animated by a different studio, tatsunoko<\/i>.\u00a0 this could possibly explain its higher quality (as an OVA)\u2026or tatsunoko<\/i> really is worlds better than the old studio, nomad<\/i>.\u00a0 yea i don\u2019t know or care\u2026it\u2019s still f\u2019ing gorgeous to watch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
