you know what today is?\u00a0 it\u2019s the 5th anniversary of me having sold my soul to the dark overlord of world of warcraft<\/a>.\u00a0 ya, it\u2019s been 5 years since i started this cocaine of mmo\u2019s.\u00a0 i\u2019m not sure who could\u2019ve guessed back then how big it would get.\u00a0 people anticipated the game to be a massive success\u2026but, yea\u2026i\u2019m not sure they knew just how massive.\u00a0 prior to wow coming out, everquest<\/i> was considered a success at a \u201cwhopping\u201d 400,000+ subscribers.\u00a0 wow currently sits at over 11 million subscribers and counting.\u00a0 and given that it\u2019s shown no signs of letting up, i thought it\u2019d be fun to celebrate this 5th anniversary by giving a thorough historical recap of my time with the game, for all two of you out there who give a fucking shit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VANILLA WOW<\/b>
so the year was 2004, and the world was different.\u00a0 the \u201chorseless carriage\u201d had just been introduced, and there were talks of \u201cflying contraptions\u201d\u2026.just kidding.\u00a0 it was<\/i> a different world tho.\u00a0 the economy didn\u2019t suck, but we did have a halfwit for president. as a result, the world was pretty bleh, so it was the perfect time to introduce an mmo where people could escape to.\u00a0 fonz, mike, and i jumped on board on launch day, along with a few bajillion people around the country.\u00a0 we were tossed onto the realm \u201ckhadgar\u201d, where i rolled a perky human mage and went about toasting hapless sheep with fireballs.\u00a0 then the server (along with a couple others) promptly shit itself under the strain of a thousand nerds.\u00a0 damnit.\u00a0 we got a message saying that the server would most likely be \u201cshit\u201d for a while, so we headed to another server, \u201cllane\u201d.\u00a0 this was a brand new \u201csecond day\u201d east coast server, one of a couple they brought online to handle the crush of people apparently trying to escape the real world.\u00a0 i rolled a night elf hunter this time, slapped on the name \u201cmoya\u201d (my last character in morrowind was moya, hence i reused it as legacy), and off i went.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

that\u2019s moya attempting to navigate the subway between ironforge and stormwind.\u00a0 shit was complex, k?\u00a0 after a few months power-leveling on my own, i hooked up with my first guild on the server, emperor\u2019s thousand<\/i>.\u00a0 it was a relatively small, casual guild\u2026noticeable given that i was the highest level toon in guild at the time i joined.\u00a0 the people were cool, and we had fun.\u00a0 i however eventually got a bit bored (i was part of the first group of 60\u2019s on the server), and joined up with a hardcore raid guild called \u2018rapture<\/i>\u2018.\u00a0 i bailed on them however after a few days after i deemed the hardcore lifestyle \u201cretarded<\/i>\u201c, and went back to et.\u00a0 the boredom lingered however, and fonz and i ventured off for a brief period of time to the doomhammer server to run with ars discordia<\/span>, an ars clan guild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

i rolled another hunter named \u201cnorthern\u201d and took him to 60 relatively fast.\u00a0 that\u2019s the guild above getting the main tank burley his thunderfury btw.\u00a0 oohs and ahs.\u00a0 the guild didn\u2019t seem like a fit tho, so we found ourselves wandering back to llane and et.\u00a0 some time later, the guild had a bit of a meltdown (partially instigated by fonz, mike, and i), and we reformed into \u2018orichalcum<\/i>\u2018 with me as the guild leader (kek!).\u00a0 shortly after that, we began successfully running molten core with an alliance of guilds. a few months into that with a couple boss kills under our belt, we decided to merge into one guild called \u2018etherion<\/i>\u2018.\u00a0 riveting shit, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

i forgot to mention too.\u00a0 back then, everybody and their fucking sisters was a night elf hunter, so i had at some point rolled a priest named \u201cjema\u201d.\u00a0 nobody wanted to be a healer, so i figured shit\u2026i can do that.\u00a0 the priest pretty much became my main throughout the entirety of \u201cvanilla\u201d wow.\u00a0 i spent my nights playing healer \u201cwhack a mole\u201d with people who liked standing in the proverbial \u201cstupid shit\u201d.\u00a0 i had also leveled a paladin named \u201csoja\u201d to 60, but shelved her because pally\u2019s sucked massive.\u00a0 then came the burning crusade<\/span>\u2026the first expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE BURNING CRUSADE<\/b>
i went back to my first toon, moya, for the duration of bc.\u00a0 that last image was near the end of bc and during the beijing olympics.\u00a0 we got spiffy limited edition tabards and a pet dragon\u2026word.\u00a0 bc for me was summed up with one word\u2026alts.\u00a0 a fuck-ton.\u00a0 maybe it was something to do with what the game became.\u00a0 but in the interim that was bc, alongside my hunter and priest, i also rolled a draenei shaman (sonatine), a draenei warrior (murata), and brought over my second hunter from doomhammer (juno) and took him to 70 also.\u00a0 i was nearing absolute boredom, so the upcoming second expansion, wrath of the lich king<\/i>, was a godsend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WRATH OF THE LICH KING<\/b>
the top picture is of me graduating with the first class of death knights\u2026wooha!\u00a0 the aforementioned alts of bc probably burned me out on all the \u2018classic\u2019 classes.\u00a0 so when the new death knight class came out with lk, i rolled a night elf named \u201cveil\u201d and never looked back.\u00a0 at this point tho, the guild had evolved into something \u201cshit\u201d.\u00a0 i had stepped down as guild leader and officer during bc, and thought i had left the guild in capable hands.\u00a0 leadership however eventually made its way into the hands of what i would term \u201cretards\u201d, and their direction and mine gradually shifted apart.\u00a0 fonz had already left for the pvp server chromaggus and another ars guild, ars brute squad<\/i> before the expansion came out\u2026he had similar reservations with the guilds direction long before i did.\u00a0 so when the 3.1 patch hit, i said \u201cfuck it\u201d and left the server, along with a few friends that were still on llane, for chromaggus to rejoin fonz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

chromaggus is where i currently reside with my new blood elf death knight sonatine<\/a>, and my transferred characters jema (horo) and moya (juno).\u00a0 word\u2026i\u2019ll see you in-game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
