{"id":1225,"date":"2008-04-07T00:14:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-07T00:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.m3ntalcontraband.com\/?p=1225"},"modified":"2020-11-04T11:17:31","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T16:17:31","slug":"back_home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/m3ntal.halleytsai.com\/?p=1225","title":{"rendered":"back home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text-paragraph\">mmm\u2026its been two weeks since i got back to nyc. and in that time i\u2019ve eaten out at waaay too many japanese eateries. <i>setagaya, menkui-tei,<\/i> and a new ramen place, <i>ippudo<\/i>. i mean, im going to tokyo in two week\u2026you\u2019d think i\u2019d be able to wait a bit. wait, hold up\u2026have i mentioned this before? hmm, i dont think i have\u2026whups. yea, im off to tokyo (again) in two weeks\u2026woot! this will be my third time there, putting it up there (soon) as one of only two cities i\u2019ve travelled to more than twice\u2026the other one being london. anyhoo, im digressing. tokyo will get its own post\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\"><b>ST JOHNS<\/b><br>last weekend was minks wedding, held at st. john the divines. holy shit that place is massive. as we approached it from 110th st, i saw a small chapel and went, \u201c<i>hmm, the photos made it look so much larger\u2026<\/i>\u201c. as we actually round the corner from 110th st, we see the building <i>behind<\/i> that one, which turned out to be the actual st. johns. yea\u2026the small chapel was just the synod\u2026ha!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\">the wedding itself was very formal, very solemn. i felt bad for even shuffling and making ruffling noises in the space. after the wedding ceremony, we headed over to the aforementioned synod for the reception for food and music. and after that we headed to k-town for some tofu specialties at <i>cho dang gol<\/i>. it was gud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\"><b>BAR-CRAWL<\/b><br>for whatever reason, di and i decided to head out bar-crawling saturday nite to relax with some liquor. we started at <i>bond st<\/i>, a sneaky little bar that ive probably walked by thousands of time, but never knew was a bar. sneaky! after going thru two rounds of high-priced drinks and really yum nigiri\u2019s (hello $$$) we headed to\u2026um\u2026the bar next to the <i>noho star<\/i>. yea, name escapes me. it was a speak-easy, very chill. well it was when we first got there. after our first round, we looked up and noticed the entire place was packed\u2026wow. we eventually got the munchies, and eventually made our way down to the lower east side to <i>kampuchea<\/i> for some cambodian noodles and a cold glass of <i>hitachino<\/i>. yum yum\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\">anyhoo, i want to relax on my bed now and watch <i>no reservations<\/i>, so im just going to end this post here without a clever closing paragraph. theyre overrated anyhoo\u2026unless this paragraph talking about a lack of a clever closing paragraph is in fact itself a clever closing paragraph. whatever\u2026my nose is running. argh\u2026allergies\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/m3ntalcontraband\/albums\/72157604335846238\" title=\"mink's wedding 2008\" class=\"text-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/2344\/2378748453_5be668fb4b_z.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" alt=\"mink's wedding 2008\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-paragraph\"><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>mmm\u2026its been two weeks since i got back to nyc. and in that time i\u2019ve eaten out at waaay too many japanese eateries. setagaya, menkui-tei, and a new ramen place, ippudo. i mean, im going to tokyo in two week\u2026you\u2019d think i\u2019d be able to wait a bit. wait, hold up\u2026have i mentioned this before?
